Braden Allen Burckhard, MD Vitreoretinal Specialist
Dr. Braden Burckhard grew up on a small ranch outside of Burlington, North Dakota. Near his hometown, he completed his undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry at Minot State University graduating summa cum laude. He was recognized nationally for his research in organic chemistry, presenting findings on novel fungicides at "Posters on the Hill," in Washington D.C.
Dr. Burckhard received his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He was elected class president by his peers and received peer-voted awards for "Group Leadership and Professionalism" and "Professional Responsibility." Following medical school, he completed his intern year of residency at Gundersen Health in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Dr. Burckhard attended the University of Wisconsin for ophthalmology residency and published research related to macular surgery outcomes. He then moved to San Francisco where he completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at West Coast Retina - California Pacific Medical Center.
Dr. Burckhard is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, and dislocated intraocular lenses. He takes great pride in his surgical precision as well as his bedside manner.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Burckhard enjoys spending quality time with his family. He is passionate about golf and relishes any opportunity to play the game. Dr. Burckhards other hobbies include volleyball, pickleball, curling, traveling, and wine tasting.
